David Demant is Senior Curator Information & Communication at Museum Victoria, the state museum of Victoria in Australia.
David has responsibility for the Information and Communication Collection, which covers technologies that are or have been directly involved in communication and/or the processing of information.
He has published a number of books including The First Computer Mouse, a fantasy tale for children (actually for their parents and grandparents). He has written and contributed to a number of informational books for children. He has participated in a number of amateur and professional theatrical productions, has been an extra on Neighbours, and appears regularly on a radio science programme. He is Museum Victoria’s unofficial poet laureate.
David believes that storytelling is the most effective form of communication in museums and everywhere else.

Maria Esther Alvarez Valente – Rio de Janeiro/ Brazil
Graduated in History from the Pontificie Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO), Masters in Education from the same University (1995) and PhD from the program of Teaching and History of Earth Sciences at the Institute of Geosciences UNICAMP. She is currently senior technologist iii – of the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences - MAST. Has experience in the area of Education in Museums, especially museums of science and technology. Acts as a researcher on the following topics: education, museums, public access, education and non-formal education in science, science communication, scientific and cultural history museology. Associated with the postgraduate courses: Heritage and Museology Program from the UNIRIO / MAST, in the course of Collections Conservation Science and Technology (PPACT) from MAST, both in master's degree level. Member of CIMUSET since 1995.
